BES Teacher Honored with the Elbert K. Fretwell Outstanding Educator Award

The Boy Scouts of America’s Black Warrior Council awarded Brent Elementary first grade teacher Lacey Mitchell with the Elbert K. Fretwell Outstanding Educator Award. Mitchell was honored with a medallion and a certificate on Jan. 27.

According to the organization, the mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

The Elbert K. Fretwell Outstanding Educator Award was created in an effort to recognize the valuable contributions the educator community makes in the lives of young people. Each educator awarded was nominated by their community.

Brent Elementary is proud of Lacey Mitchell and applaud her work in education that exemplifies good character while inspiring students to do likewise!
